ALPSMOUNTAINBIKE is a registred company in France created and run by Martial HERDEWYN. Providing a bilingual French/English speaking service to our clients. Martial is a professional Mountain Leader and Qualified Mountain Bike Guide.

ALPSMOUNTAINBIKE is the 'ownly' French Mountain Bike Company in the Morzine, Grand Massif and Mont Blanc area, working with both French and non-French speaking clients. We are a mountain bike tour operator and independent company offering you local knowledge and riding trails, safe in the knowledge you are with an expert with the skills to deal with everything this serious playground hands out, and that can be anything!

Martial passed through the French Diploma of Accompagnateur en Montagne (Mountain Leader: Trekking and Snowshoe Guide and Eco-Guide) with the additional specialization of Qualification VTT (Mountain Bike Qualification) in 1997. This diploma is the highest standard in the world for Mountain Leading and Mountain Bike Guiding comprising two years of studies. Martial also holds a First Aid Certification and the Team Rescue Diploma.

Not only is Martial a Mountain Bike Guide but what he doesn't know about French cheese isn't worth knowing and is currently working on the Reblochon lollipop! He is also a nature lover and finds it a real pleasure to share his passion for flora, fauna, geology, local history and architecture. Mountain biking is an excellent way to discover everything the mountains and countryside have to offer with open eyes, Martial and all the Montain Bike Guides will energetically point out as much as possible!

After six years of mountain bike racing, Martial created LA VACHE QUI RIDE.COM , a multi-activity company offering Hiking, Snowshoe walks, Tipi Weekends and Mountain Bike Tours. He subsequently created a second company alongside, ALPSMOUNTAINBIKE.COM, dedicated to offering the best of what the French Alps have to offer for Mountain Bikers...

The goal of ALPSMONTAINBIKE is to propose an 'alternative' to the classic Mountain Biking Holidays in Morzine, Les Gets and Portes du Soleil, so we include in our tours - nights in remote secluded mountain refuges, rides in the picturesque outlaying areas surrounding Les Carroz and the legendary 'Haute Route' by bike - Chamonix to Zermatt and the Tour of Mont Blanc which includes nights spent at the foot of spectacular glaciers, Swiss lakeside picnic lunches, and the best ice-cream and pasta on offer in chic Italian, Courmayeur.

The Alps are full of trails that most foreign mountain bike guides working in the area ignore or do not know! This is our backyard where we have grown up riding, so we know it! We believe you would be missing the real sense of mountain biking to stay a week in the same place, for us mountain biking means maximising the potential of the mountains around you...

We can help organise bike hire for you, or better still bring your own bike and don't leave your best friend out of the action!

We are specialized in working with small groups of between 2 to 8 clients per guide, no more! Why? Firstly, for safety and security, secondly for cohesion within the group relating to technical and fitness levels and thirdly to make the tours more friendly. We always ride with walkie-talkies especially when the groups are of around 8 clients; one for the guide and one for the last in the group. We put your safety first.

Our strength is we are local guides, with local knowledge, living here all year long, riding in the Alps since we were children. We never stop exploring and enjoying the thousands of trails the Alps and the Mont Blanc region offer...
